Some Winter Tying...

Finally used Senyo's Lazer Dubbing to properly tie his sculpin pattern. The other dubbing I attempted use before is sub-par compared to this material. I had some success with this fly on the river so wanted to have some more.

Trying this raffia material that I bought this past summer at a craft store that was closing just up the road from my house. I think this will work for my Early Little Black Stonefly. Can't wait to test it out.

Been playing around with this Hare's Ear Wiggle dubbing the past few days. You have to use a dubbing loop to really get the effect that you want with the legs. I think this will work well as a point fly for some tandem fly rigs as well as an Iso nymph in the appropriate colors on the river.

Tying the Hopper Juan from Juan Ramirez on Vimeo.

With the amount of foam that I had purchased from a local craft store going out of business for $0.22 a 8.5"x 11" sheet, I needed some patterns to tie with it. I have tied the basic patterns, but I found this video of the Hopper Juan. His instruction during the video is very informative. This blog contains a handful of helpful tying videos, so be sure to check it out. Well back to the bench...
